Itinerary:
Saturday: We depart London at 08:00 to start our journey north. Our first stop is at Bowness on Windermere. One of the best ways to enjoy the sights and attractions of the Lake District is to take a cruise on the largest lake ~ Windermere. Cruises offer a choice of short excursions or a complete circuit of the lake. Your Tour Manager will be able to advise you on all the various cruise options available to you and arrange for a discounted group price. You will find the World of Beatrix Potter, home to Peter Rabbit and Mrs Tiggy-winkle and many great craft and gift shops in the town centre. Late afternoon we make our way to the picturesque seaside town of Whitehaven. Time to settle in before venturing out for the evening.
Sunday: We head away after breakfast to visit Grasmere. It is here that you can visit Dove Cottage, home of William Wordsworth. The award-winning Wordsworth Museum displays a unique collection of manuscripts, books and paintings interpreting the life and works of Wordsworth. You can take a tour of the Cottage and explore the garden. In the village of Grasmere youll find Sarah Nelsons Gingerbread Shop where gingerbread is baked fresh each day. Continuing onto our final destination. The town of Keswick located near Derwentwater. Yet another opportunity to enjoy a lake cruise on Derwentwater. The Pencil Museum is only a short walk from the town centre. Here you can find out how they get the lead inside the pencil. The Cars for Stars Museum features vehicles from TV and films, including Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, the Batmobile, Back to the Future Delorean, the James Bond collection, Del Boys Reliant Robin, Knightriders KITT, Laurel & Hardys Model T, The Flintstones, The Munsters and many other famous vehicles and motorcycles. The evening is spent in Keswick.
Monday: Heading away after breakfast we make our way to Hawkshead. A small village with cobblestone streets and quaint houses. You can visit the Hawkshead outdoor clothing company and the school where William Wordsworth attended. There is also the Beatrix Potter Gallery home to the original illustrations from her books. Enjoy a pub lunch before we start homeward journey.
